Being a foundation student, our lives kinda revolve around only one thing ;
STUDY
And this entry was made only to share to you just how I did (and still doing) it, since I'mrunningoutofideaonwhattowriteonmyblogformydemonstratortocheckon.
In our programme, Foundation Studies of Agricultural Science, we would take up to 6 subjects in each semester, which are ;
BIOLOGY
PHYSICS
CHEMISTRY
MATHEMATICS (Algebra, Calculus, Statistics)
AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE
ADDITIONAL SUBJECT (English / Computer Science - the reason I have this blog right now)
They sound fancy, don't they?
And having the chance of learning these subjects have always thrilled me since day 1, and that spirit carries on in syaa Allah.
So, how do I study?
1. The ultimate key to ensure your comprehension on your lesson is try to get as much as you can in the class. I usually would (try to) give 100% concentration on what being taught by my lecturers or demonstators during the class. This is crucial to me so that I wouldn't have to spend much time trying to understand them afterwards, since I am kind of a slothful person (and I AM trying to fix this day by day, may Allah ease).
The problem is - smartphone. I have to admit my-easily-distracted self would occassionally use smartphone in the class. Rightfully, using smartphone isn't wrong if you use it the right way, and use it accordingly NOT excessively :)
2. I applied what I've learnt by teaching my friends and anyone who would like to learn with me, as I believe that I best learn by studying in a group. I would try to avoid viewing their request as time-consuming or nuisance, but instead I look on the requests as an opportunity for me to perfect my knowledge and benefit others :)
3. Be close to your lecturer, you might seem like an apple-polisher or anything but people judge anyways and you know yourself, believe me this has A LOT of benefit !
So I apply these two ways of studying on all of the subjects, with additional incentives as follows :
For BIOLOGY & CHEMISTRY
1. I would watch youtube videos with illustrations in order for me to -- imagine the stuffs I learnt? haha. Or precisely to have a clearer picture.
And here are my favourite channel(s) :
Channel : Crash Course
Subjects I usually learn : Biology, Chemistry
Channel : TedEd
Subjects : Biology, General Knowledge
2. I would make short notes and write the gist of the topic on a piece of paper, and it helps a lot especially before entering the examination hall :)
Cellular Respiration - Biology
Chemical Kinetics - Physical Chemistry
(credits to Aqilah, Afiqah, Muhsin, Nik, Matrah bcs we worked as a group creating this one)
For PHYSICS and MATHEMATICS ;
PRACTICE is the key. Furthermore, I would always ask my lecturer for their guidance even outside of the lecture session.
For AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE and COMPUTER SCIENCE ;
I'll make sure that I have read everything, and then make short notes of it. And I would try to memorize the notes over and over again until I am sure that I grasp all of them before examination, haha.
But really, you don't learn for exams :)
These might not be enlightening at all but these are how I studied, and alhamdulillah I aced the first semester by practicing them :)
It was narrated from Jabir RA that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Ask Allah for beneficial knowledge and seek refuge with Allah from knowledge that is of no benefit." (Sunan Ibn Majah - Vol. 5, Book 34, Hadith 3843)
That's all I have to say :)
